ALSO KNOWN AS THE MAPUCHE.
HISTORY OF THE ARAUCANIAN'S.
The Araucanian's are one of the few groups to fight well against the fearsome Spanish. Who looked to them like man-beast combinations. The Spanish and their guns just couldn't defeat them. The Mapuche then successfully held off many attempts by the Inca Empire to subjugate them. They fought against the Sape Inca Tupac Yupanqui and his army. This battle was a 3-day confrontation which ended in the Mapuche forcing the Incas back north.
General Info about the Araucanian's.
1. Language and Stories
- The official language of the Mapuche is Mapudungun/Spanish.
- They are still around today having never been conquered.
- They survived the Spanish for along time.
- One of their famous stories are about Trentren and Caicai.
- They are people who there other gods got very ticked at.
2. Religion
- The other gods are Caicaifilu deity of rivers and streams.
- Pillan deity of volcano's.
- Trentren their deity of floods.
- Mahun the deity of rain.
- Last but not least Antu the deity of the Sun.
- There have a family of gods.
- There main religion is Christianity which their version is a combination of Catholicism and Evangelicalism.
- They also have many traditional tribal beliefsThe Mapuche economy was based off of Agriculture.
- Current Araucanian's are primarily living in Southern Chile,and Argentina.
3.Ethnicity and famous warriors
- They people have a wide-ranging ethnicity.
- They had a few famous warriors...
- The first one is Laurto, who was a military leader who was captured by the spanish and lost one of his hands and his nose.
- Galvarino is another military leader for the Mapuche.

Timeline
1800-Present
1808- The Spanish first start to fight with them.
1810- The first anti Spanish revolutions occur.
1810-1910 The Spanish try to defeat the Mapuche to no avail.
1880- Overthrew the King of Araucania who was a French explorer.
1910+ They are still living in valleys and other places in Chile.
Mapuche Foods/FamilyLife
Theyeat most of the same foods as we do like the meats they also eat lots of plants that have some type of Medicimal Value.
The Mapuche men are very skilled in woodcarving.
The men also are excellent leather workers.
They like everything to be very clean and their houses are made of stray thatched roofs.
The Women make food.
They also take care of children and cook the food like chickens geese and rabbits.
They make clothes and ceramics.
Downfall
They were close to their downfall many times during the many wars that ravaged the land but they were never totally conquered and are still living on reservations today.
