                    Mayan Civilization

                                                               Tricia and Brandon D

 

  • The Mayans originated in Yucatan around 2600 B.C
  • They developed the calendrical system
  • They have 2 main periods the Classic and the Post Classic
  • They domesticated the dog
  • Main foods: corn, rice, wheat, chicken, and pigs
  • Produced amazing art and architecture
  • They put the babies heads inbetween 2 boards to make the face more narrow

 

                                                

 

 

                                Fun Facts!

  • The Mayan Calendar ended on December 21st 2012
  • People didn't know if that meant the world is going to end in 2012 or if theres a drastic change, it could possibly mean nothing
  • Some of the foods they ate were rabbits, macaws, and monkey's
  • There were once warriors named Itza
  • They had great palaces that only kings, priests, and most important people lived in
  • There are still some Mayans living today
  • The Mayans mysteriously dissapeared in 900 A.D.
